Connecticut tax mentality

The tax’s in Connecticut are among the highest in the nation. I really can’t understand the reasoning behind how they figure raising or keeping such high tax rates is a benefit to the State of Connecticut.

The way I see how things should be is we should lower the taxes below our neighboring States tax rate so they come over the border to buy in Connecticut. Increased sales means more tax revenue for the State. Gas tax, Alcohol tax, Cigarette tax are way to high. How can the average Joe in Connecticut be happy?

Now you can see what I’m getting at. By lowering taxes the State will actually gain by increased sales in the State. The same would also happen with business tax breaks. Attracting business to Connecticut which has a great work force full of highly skilled workers is smeared by the ridiculous tax burden put on these businesses.

Connecticut better wake up soon before all the businesses and people move out of this tax happy State.

When I was a kid back in the 1950′s I remember the true greatness of our country. Church and religion both united communities and families and let me stress the families part. Yes this is a free country and you can believe what you so desire but the bottom line is that by taking religion out of public schools we have lost the family and community unity that made this country strong.
Fact is the public schools are run by the the children and young adults that attend those schools. The teachers and administrators are frightened by parents and lawyers in this suite happy nation where any type of discipline could mean their job or a possible law suite. Now what is the big freaking deal if the school wants to hold graduation in a facility that is owned by a church???

Another Teen Suicide in Enfield

The fact that there have been several teen suicides in Enfield in recent years is such a sad waste of human lives.
Teen’s for some reason believe that life ends if things are not going right or they don’t fit in with the so called cool people that are so popular in school. Well let me tell you, that is not true. Life should be long and just because your situation seems hopeless as a teen does not mean that it will last throughout your entire life. Ask most adults 40 and over and they will tell you about a sad part of their life that they got through and only made them stronger. Life is not easy and its not always enjoyable, but life is always better than death. Be strong, the fools who make your life miserable will get their due and someday you will see that things will equal out.

Water problems?

It appears that we have unfortunately purchased a home in a section of Enfield built in the 60′s that has had, and still has, chronic water problems from groundwater seeping through basement walls. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Power finally restored!

Almost exactly one week after losing power we are finally enjoying some of the things we take for granted every day. I like most lost many tree’s and the cleanup will last through the spring. There are many young entrepreneur’s out there looking to make a few bucks and will help with the cleanup. Beware of the numerous tree’s that are broke and could fall at anytime. So be careful outside and let your children be aware of these dangerous surroundings.
